On the coaching front Head coach Sid Street has been spoilt with the offers of help from US Old Boys with Will Feeby and Mark Sheldon taking a regular monthly session. And with the Navy squad using Ex Super 12 player NZ Brett Mcormack to help with the Interservices build up he also has offered to take the odd session as well.
With results going our way at the moment things are very much brighter down at Burnaby Rd. Its a tight league Hampshire one so we must stay focused on the job of surviving the season and make a big push next season.
Sid says that it is lovely to have the majority of the second team pushing for a first team place. Selection at the moment is hard work with many big decisions to made. With a few more front row now at the club we now have the players for a sociable 3rd team.

What a good year it has been so far, 5 straight wins for the seconds and four in a row for the Ones. Making that 7 wins out of the last eight games. The last fixture being a great mid week game against the Royal Navy Vets. We started the game with nearly a first choice 15 then as the game progressed introduced second team players onto the pitch. The standard did not drop throughout the game and a deserved 19-12 win was chalked up. Big thanks go to the Navy vets for the fixture. We stepped in to take the game after Twickenham Vets pulled out and we hope that we can make this a regular warm up fixture for the Navy before the all-important Army game.
The US vets have had a few enjoyable games this year narrowly loosing to Southampton Vets and Burt’s All-star 15 (just thought I would mention my 20 meter ball carry, just held up on the line etc zzzzzzz)
The transfer deadline is now with us and the final signing of the year was a good one. Richard “Taff” John a Hooker/Prop/Backrow who has played in the Navy senior squad who has come to join us from Tonmawr RFC a Welsh Div one side.
The league is still very tight and we need a couple more wins under our belt to breathe easy. Third place is very achievable this season and for a basically new squad that would amount to a pretty successful season.
Keep smiling - Burt
